MistServer
Public domain streaming media server that works with any device and any format.
MistServer provides a full‑featured streaming media toolkit for over‑the‑top (OTT) delivery, supporting a wide range of input and output formats and protocols. It runs as a controller process that discovers and launches auxiliary binaries, exposing an API on port 4242 and a web interface for configuration. The server can be installed from pre‑compiled binaries or built with Meson, and it operates on any common operating system without requiring subscription fees.
The software is aimed at developers and system integrators who need a self‑hostable, open‑source solution for streaming video and audio to any device. Its architecture allows selective inclusion of components, and it offers built‑in support for protocols such as WebRTC, RIST, SRT, and token‑based access control. Documentation, examples, and a manual are provided to guide integration and deployment.
MistServer is released into the public domain under the Unlicense, with a stable release track and no subscription model. It can be run under systemd or other init daemons, and contributors are invited to contact the project maintainers for development assistance.
