Nova

Nova is a native macOS code editor that combines a fast, flexible text‑editing core with a range of built‑in development utilities. The editor offers features such as smart autocomplete with fuzzy matching, multiple cursors, a minimap, tag and bracket pairing, and extensive language support for formats including JavaScript, Python, PHP, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, Markdown and many others. Its custom text layout manager is designed for high performance on macOS.

Beyond editing, Nova lets users define and trigger build, run, and clean tasks through toolbar buttons or keyboard shortcuts, streamlining workflows such as launching local servers or opening generated URLs. The editor includes a debugging interface that supports PHP, Python, Chrome, Node.js, Deno and a Playdate simulator, with breakpoints, a console debugger and a dedicated debug sidebar. An extensions API and built‑in extension browser allow developers to add language support or custom tools, while a rich settings panel lets users tailor the editor to personal preferences.
