NukeBG

Free, open source image background removal tool

Visit

NukeBG removes backgrounds from images entirely within the browser, using a WebAssembly‑based machine‑learning model (RMBG‑1.4). Users can drag‑and‑drop, paste, or select PNG, JPEG, or WebP files up to 4096 × 4096 pixels, and the tool outputs a transparent PNG or WebP without any server interaction. The interface includes a before/after comparison and a simple manual editor for refinement.

The application is designed for developers and anyone needing quick, client‑side background removal without uploading data. Because all processing occurs locally, there are no accounts, watermarks, usage limits, or tracking. After the initial visit the assets and model are cached via a service worker, enabling offline use as a progressive web app.

NukeBG is released under the GPL‑3.0 license, making its source code freely available for inspection and modification. Its key distinctions are full client‑side operation, privacy‑preserving handling of images, and an open‑source implementation that runs in any modern browser.
