OpenAccountants provides a collection of open‑source accounting modules that can be invoked by AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex. The modules encode tax rules as executable code, allowing an LLM to perform tax calculations without generating advice. All computations are supplied by a community of verified professional accountants, including CPAs, EAs, Steuerberater, Chartered Accountants, and Dottori Commercialisti, who review and sanity‑check the logic.

Developers can integrate the tax computation chain into their applications to obtain deterministic results for tasks like quarterly estimated tax payments or multi‑jurisdiction returns. The project emphasizes data privacy, encouraging users to verify any output with a qualified professional before filing. Documentation and community discussions are publicly readable, while posting is restricted to verified accountants.

The initiative is experimental and driven by a global network of 19 verified accountants across 15 countries. It aims to give AI agents reliable, code‑based tax computation tools while fostering collaboration among tech‑forward accounting practitioners.
