Open Video Downloader

Open Video Downloader provides a graphical desktop interface for the yt‑dlp tool, allowing users to retrieve videos, audio tracks, subtitles and metadata from a wide range of supported sites without using the command line. The application runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, offering options to select resolution, frame rate, output format such as MP4 or MKV, and to download whole playlists in a single operation. It also supports authentication via browser cookies, basic credentials and video passwords, and can automatically keep both the app and its yt‑dlp backend up to date.

The program is built with a Vue 3 front‑end and a Rust backend powered by Tauri, delivering a lightweight UI that adapts to system light or dark themes and provides progress notifications and error handling. Users can customise download destinations and filename patterns, and the built‑in queue manager balances multiple downloads to avoid slowing the computer. The software is released under the AGPL‑3.0 license and is intended for lawful personal use.
