Oscilloscope
Mimic the aesthetic of ray-oscilloscopes
The application visualizes audio input using a graphical style that imitates classic ray‑oscilloscopes, presenting waveforms with a retro aesthetic. Users can load audio files by clicking the folder icon or dragging files into the window, and a built‑in play button lets them verify their audio setup. Playback can be paused with the space bar, toggled to fullscreen with “f”, hidden interface with Tab, and exported as an image sequence with “e”.
It is built on the OpenFrameworks library and relies on FFmpeg via the ofxAvCodec addon for audio decoding. The software runs on macOS as a stable release, with source code and build instructions available for Linux and Windows, including scripts for compilation and packaging. Documentation includes a user page and a GitHub repository for further reference.
The project is open source, licensed under MIT/BSD for the framework and LGPL for the FFmpeg components, and encourages contributions for additional platform support.
