Cables
Visual programming tool
Cables provides a visual programming environment that runs as a standalone desktop application on macOS, Windows, and Linux. It packages the web‑based editor and its operational nodes into an Electron‑based executable, allowing users to create and edit node‑graph workflows without a browser sandbox. The tool supports fullscreen and renderer‑maximizing launch options and offers a portable AppImage for Linux, a signed DMG for macOS, and a Windows executable.
The software is aimed at developers and artists who need an interactive, node‑based interface for building procedural logic, shaders, or data pipelines. By exposing the same editor as the online version, it enables offline work and direct access to the underlying JavaScript runtime, which can execute custom code and plugins. Users are expected to manage security themselves, as the Electron configuration disables many of the default sandbox protections.
Cables is maintained by the undev studio with community contributions, and it is released under a stable maturity label. Ongoing development is tracked via GitHub releases and issue templates, and users can provide feedback through the project's issue tracker.
