Pages Data Merge
Mail merge for Pages
Pages Data Merge is a macOS utility that automates the replacement of placeholder text in iWork Pages documents with data drawn from a spreadsheet. Users prepare a Pages template by inserting text placeholders and assigning each a unique Script Tag via the More tab; a Numbers spreadsheet supplies the row data that will populate those tags. The application runs AppleScript‑based scripts to read the selected spreadsheet range and generate a separate document for each row, exporting the results as PDFs.
The tool is aimed at users who need to produce multiple personalized documents—such as mail merges—without manual copy‑and‑paste. It requires the template to be open, unprotected, and free of placeholders inside tables or charts, which are not script‑visible. The workflow includes selecting the data range in Numbers, then invoking the merge process from the Pages Data Merge app.
Pages Data Merge is distributed as a stable, macOS‑only package and includes example files and a short tutorial video. It also offers guidance on combining the generated PDFs into a single file using a free system‑service.
