PhotoSweeper X scans a Mac’s hard disks, external storage, and supported photo libraries to locate duplicate and visually similar images, as well as related video files. It groups matches based on adjustable similarity thresholds, series‑of‑shots timing, and metadata such as EXIF information, allowing users to review and decide which files to keep. The application integrates with Apple Photos, Capture One, and Adobe Lightroom Classic, presenting results within each program’s hierarchy and offering actions like moving duplicates to the system Trash, marking Lightroom items as “Rejected,” or placing videos in a special album.

The interface includes a modern photo browser with quick‑look previews, EXIF panels, and movie playback for formats not natively supported by macOS. Users can lock already sorted images to exclude them from further comparison, and the tool provides batch renaming while copying or moving files to aid organization. All removal operations are safe, as files are never permanently deleted without user confirmation, and they can be restored from the Trash or special collections if needed.
