PYM Player
Media player that automatically searches for subtitles
PYM Player is a macOS media player that leverages FFmpeg to support a wide range of video formats not handled by QuickTime, such as MKV, AVI, RMVB, FLV, OGV, WMV, and WebM. It includes a media library for organizing movies, series, and video files, and can retrieve metadata and cover art via an OMDb subscription.
The application automatically searches for subtitles on the NapiProjekt service when a video starts, and it can also load subtitle files supplied by the user. Detected subtitles are converted to the chosen format (TXT or SRT) with user‑selected Polish character encoding (CP‑1250, ISO‑8859‑2, or UTF‑8), and the player automatically recognizes the encoding to display Polish characters correctly.
Subtitle timing can be adjusted on the fly with keyboard shortcuts, and an integrated editor lets users modify subtitle text and timing, with changes optionally saved back to the subtitle file for use in other players. The software is free and available for macOS 10.14 through macOS 15, including native builds for Apple Silicon and Intel.
