A graphical interface for the MPlayer engine, this software plays virtually any audio or video format without requiring external codec packs. Built‑in codecs cover common containers such as AVI, MP4, MKV, MPEG, MOV and codecs like H.264, allowing seamless playback on Windows, Linux and macOS systems. The player remembers the last position, audio track, subtitles and volume for each file, so resumed viewing continues exactly where it was left off.
Additional capabilities include direct streaming of YouTube videos, optional subtitle search and download from opensubtitles.org, and support for Chromecast casting. Users can apply video and audio filters, adjust playback speed, sync delays, and use a video equalizer, while touch‑screen devices are also supported. The interface is customizable through multiple skins and icon themes, and the program is available in more than thirty languages.
The application is released under the GPL license, offering a free and open‑source solution for media playback across multiple platforms.
