Powder Player is a macOS‑only application that combines a video player with torrent handling and streaming capabilities. It can open torrent files directly, fetch and play the content while downloading, and also streams media from more than a thousand websites, including popular services such as YouTube, Vimeo, Ace Stream, SopCast, RTMP and HLS sources. The player supports local media files and provides automatic subtitle discovery and download.
The software includes casting features that allow video playback on external devices via Chromecast, Apple TV, AirPlay, DLNA or a web browser. Users can configure file and protocol associations, keep a history of watched items, and adjust playback settings through a highly configurable interface.
Powder Player is distributed as open‑source, ad‑free software and is positioned for users who need a unified tool for torrent‑based viewing, online streaming, and local media playback on macOS.
