SonoBus

High-quality network audio streaming

Visit

SonoBus enables peer‑to‑peer streaming of high‑quality, low‑latency audio between multiple devices on a local network or over the internet. Users create a named group, optionally protected by a password, and all participants can send and receive each other’s audio streams, record the combined mix, or play back shared media to the whole group. The application offers configurable latency, bitrate, and quality settings, with optional compression, noise gate, EQ, and a master reverb, while displaying real‑time network statistics.

The software runs as a standalone program on macOS, Windows, iOS, Linux, and Android, and is also available as AU, VST, and AAX plugins for macOS and Windows, allowing integration into digital audio workstations or use on mobile devices. Audio can be transmitted uncompressed (16‑, 24‑, or 32‑bit PCM) or using the Opus codec at bitrates from 16 kbps to 256 kbps per channel.

SonoBus is open‑source and free, focusing on transparent, high‑fidelity transmission without built‑in echo cancellation or noise reduction. Connections are established via a lightweight server for peer discovery, while the audio data travels directly between users; no encryption is applied to the stream. The tool is intended for musicians, podcasters, and anyone needing collaborative real‑time audio across multiple platforms.
