PaulXStretch
Extreme time stretching plugin for audio files
PaulXStretch implements the PaulStretch algorithm for extreme time‑stretching and other spectral processing of audio. It is designed for radical transformations rather than subtle timing or pitch correction, making it suited to ambient music, sound‑design, and creating long evolving textures from short source material. The software can run as a standalone application on macOS, Windows, Linux, and iOS, and is available as AU and VST3 plugins on macOS, Windows, and iOS (AUv3).
The user interface has been updated for various screen sizes, and the package includes prebuilt FFTW libraries for macOS and Windows. Source code is hosted on GitHub and built with CMake (≥ 3.15) and JUCE 6, with detailed build instructions for each platform. Binary releases are provided for macOS and Windows; Linux users can compile from source following the supplied guide.
PaulXStretch is released under the GNU GPL v3 with an App Store license exception, and contributions are welcomed via pull requests to the develop branch. The project incorporates several third‑party libraries, including JUCE and CLAP extensions, via git‑subrepo.
