Soulver CLI

Soulver CLI provides a command‑line interface to the Soulver calculation engine, offering the same arithmetic, unit conversion, live currency conversion, and date‑time math capabilities found in the Mac and iPad versions of Soulver. It parses natural‑language expressions, supports variable declarations, and can evaluate expressions supplied as arguments, piped input, or line‑by‑line from a file. Interactive mode mimics traditional REPL tools, allowing users to type calculations directly in a terminal session.

The tool runs on macOS 12 or later, supporting both Intel and Apple Silicon hardware, and is distributed as a Homebrew package or a downloadable binary. On first launch it fetches a ~1 MB bundle containing JSON resources needed for units, functions, and timezone data; this bundle must stay alongside the executable. The binary is notarized and compatible with Gatekeeper.

Currency rates are available from the bundled data, but they are not refreshed automatically; keeping rates up to date requires the separate Mac version of Soulver to update the cache. The software is classified as stable and intended for users who need a lightweight, scriptable calculator in terminal environments.
