SwiftQuit
Enables automatic quitting of macOS apps when closing their windows.
Swift Quit is a macOS utility that automatically terminates applications when their last window is closed using the red close button. Users can configure the tool to apply globally to any app, limit it to a selected list of applications, or exclude specific programs from automatic quitting. The behavior is controlled through a simple preferences interface that also allows the app to start automatically on login.
The software is distributed as open‑source and free, and it integrates with macOS accessibility services to monitor window‑close events. Installation can be performed via Homebrew or by downloading a zip archive, after which the app must be added to the system’s Accessibility list and granted the necessary permissions.
While the program is stable, the documentation notes that some users have experienced unintended window closures or other issues, and it advises using the tool at one’s own risk. Upgrading requires removing the previous version from the Accessibility list before adding the new build.
