TagSpaces
TagSpaces is an offline, cross-platform file manager and organiser that also can function as a note taking app. The WebDAV version of the application can be installed on top of a WebDAV servers such as Nextcloud or ownCloud.
TagSpaces provides a local‑first workspace for organizing files and folders across Windows, macOS, Linux and the web. It lets users attach color‑coded tags directly to filenames or sidecar files, enabling fuzzy search and filtering without a separate database. The interface includes a built‑in media player and preview for dozens of formats, and supports note‑taking in plain text, Markdown or HTML, as well as simple to‑do lists.
The application can capture online content through a browser extension that saves webpages, screenshots and bookmarks as local files, and it offers optional integration with WebDAV services such as Nextcloud or ownCloud. All data remains on the user’s device, with no required login, cloud backend, or tracking, and tags travel with the files across platforms.
Built with React, MUI and Electron, TagSpaces is open‑source under AGPL‑3.0, self‑hostable and free of subscription tiers. Its extensible architecture allows plugins, and it can be paired with external storage solutions like S3‑compatible services or sync tools while retaining full control over file metadata.
