Therm

Fork of iTerm2 that aims to have good defaults and minimal features

Source

Therm is a macOS terminal emulator derived from iTerm2 with an emphasis on minimalism and sensible defaults. It disables many optional components such as broadcast, tmux integration, and the built‑in SSH client, and removes the Sparkle auto‑update framework, resulting in a smaller binary and faster startup. The application provides a dark theme, hidden tabs and scrollbars, and a set of keyboard shortcuts for fullscreen toggling, split resizing, and always‑on‑top mode, while avoiding transparent or blurry window effects.

The software targets users who prefer a lightweight, stable terminal experience without the extensive feature set of iTerm2. It includes a curated selection of fonts, a dark searchable entry field, and options to disable force‑touch link previews and smart‑paste. Configuration can be reset manually, and the project is distributed under the GPL license, with source builds available via Make or Xcode.

Installation is offered through direct download of a signed .app bundle, Homebrew, or manual compilation. Future development aims to further prune unused functionality, replace deprecated APIs, and improve emoji rendering while maintaining the current focus on speed and simplicity.
