The tool provides a terminal interface for monitoring live price quotes of stocks and cryptocurrencies. Users can supply a list of symbols to watch, and the display updates at a configurable interval, optionally showing additional details such as currency, exchange, quote delay, open price, previous close, and daily range. It also aggregates a summary of total day change, overall portfolio value, and value change.

In addition to watching prices, the program tracks personal holdings. A configuration file can define cost‑basis lots for each symbol, allowing the calculation of average cost, quantity, weight, and realized gain or loss. Multiple lots per symbol are supported, and groups can be created to organize watchlists and positions.

The software is distributed as pre‑compiled binaries for macOS, Linux, and Windows, with package manager options including Homebrew, Snap, and MacPorts, as well as a Docker image. It runs from the command line, accepts flags for configuration location, refresh interval, sorting, and display options, and writes optional debug logs.
