Tinderbox
Tool to take, visualise and analyze notes
Tinderbox is a macOS‑only workbench for creating, visualizing, and analyzing notes. It lets users capture ideas quickly, organize them with shapes, colors, and links, and view the resulting structure as maps, timelines, charts, or outlines. The software can automatically gather information from within a document or from the internet, enabling custom dashboards that display productivity statistics and progress milestones.
The tool is aimed at writers, journalists, scholars, and other knowledge workers who need to manage large collections of interrelated notes. Its visual map view highlights relationships among dozens or hundreds of entries, supporting activities such as plot construction, research organization, and project planning. Tinderbox also offers features for “information gardening,” allowing the data to evolve and stay clean as the user’s understanding grows.
What distinguishes Tinderbox is its combination of visual mapping, smart agents that can extract and summarize data, and a flexible, adaptable structure that can be tailored to many domains—from novel writing to legal practice management—while remaining a stable, mature application.
