TotalFinder extends macOS Finder with additional navigation and window‑management features. It reintroduces full‑color labels that were removed after El Capitan, allowing users to apply a broader palette of colored tags to files and folders. The application also adds Chrome‑style tabs to Finder windows, enabling multiple directory views to be kept in a single window and switched quickly.

A dual‑mode layout lets two Finder panes be displayed side‑by‑side via a configurable hot‑key, facilitating file operations between locations. The Visor window provides a hidden Finder pane that slides down with a single keystroke, keeping the file manager instantly accessible without occupying screen space.

Keyboard shortcuts for cut and paste replace drag‑and‑drop actions, offering a faster method for moving items. TotalFinder runs on macOS 13, 12, 11, and 10.15; on Apple Silicon the compatibility flag must be enabled manually, and the system’s SIP protection must be weakened while the tool is active.
