Touch Emoji

Emoji picker for MacBook Pro Touch Bar.

Source

Touch Emoji adds an emoji picker to the Touch Bar of a MacBook Pro. When the application is launched it places an icon in the Control Strip; clicking that icon expands a swipeable panel that displays recent and categorized emojis. Selecting an emoji inserts it into the active window, allowing quick entry without leaving the keyboard.

The utility is open‑source and targets macOS users who want a native Touch Bar interface for emoji input. It requires macOS 10.12.2 or later and must be granted Accessibility permission in System Preferences for the touch functionality to work. Installation consists of downloading the latest release from GitHub, extracting the archive, and moving the Touch Emoji app to the Applications folder.

The project builds on the earlier touch‑bar‑emojis implementation and is maintained by Ilya Lesik, with contributions acknowledged from the original author Gabriel Lorin. It is released under an open‑source license and is considered stable for everyday use.
