Ace Link

Menu bar app for playing Ace Stream video streams in an external media player

Source

Ace Link is a macOS menu‑bar utility that enables users to launch Ace Stream or magnet links in an external media player of their choice. By pasting a URL into the menu or opening a link directly with Ace Link, the application forwards the stream to the selected player, which handles decoding without any transcoding performed by Ace Link itself. The tool requires Docker and macOS High Sierra (10.13) or newer, and it can be installed via a DMG file or Homebrew cask.

The software is intended for macOS users who want to view peer‑to‑peer video streams without relying on built‑in players. It supports any player capable of handling common audio and video codecs, such as VLC, IINA, MPV, QuickTime, or web browsers, allowing flexibility in playback preferences. Because Apple does not permit unsigned peer‑to‑peer applications, Ace Link is distributed unsigned, and users may need to adjust system security settings to run it.

For users who only need the Ace Stream engine, the same Docker image can be run directly, exposing an HTTP endpoint that media players can access. Logging is available through macOS Console, where entries tagged “Process: Ace Link” provide debugging information for streaming actions.
