Asset Catalog Tinkerer

Browse/extract images from .car files

Source

The tool opens macOS asset catalog files (`.car`) and displays the images they contain, allowing users to copy individual assets or export selected or all images to a folder. It also supports theme store files, which hold UI component assets, including those found in system bundles and third‑party frameworks such as ProKit and LunaKit. A QuickLook plug‑in is bundled, enabling preview of asset catalogs directly in the macOS QuickLook viewer.

Targeted at developers, designers, or anyone needing to inspect or extract visual resources from macOS applications, the app works with files typically located in an app’s Resources directory. It provides a simple drag‑and‑drop interface for extracting assets and can be installed via Homebrew or a direct download.

While focused on image assets, the software does not handle newer catalog features like colors, and future updates may or may not add such support. The current version is marked as stable for macOS.
