BetterCapture

BetterCapture is a native macOS screen‑recording utility built with SwiftUI and ScreenCaptureKit. It lets users capture the display together with system audio and microphone input, offering encoding choices such as ProRes 4444, HEVC and H.264, and supports an alpha channel for transparent video. The app integrates into the menu bar and uses the macOS Content Picker for selecting windows or screens, preserving a familiar look and feel.

The tool targets macOS users who need a lightweight, privacy‑focused alternative to QuickTime or other commercial recorders. Because it runs locally, recordings are stored on the Mac without any cloud upload, analytics, or tracking.
