Chai
Utility to prevent the system from going to sleep
Chai is a macOS utility that prevents the computer from entering sleep mode by creating power assertions through the system’s I/O Kit. It runs inside the macOS sandbox, ensuring that its operation does not compromise system security. The application presents a simple graphical interface, allowing users to toggle the awake state with a single click.
Targeted at users who need to keep their Mac active for long‑running tasks such as downloads, presentations, or background processing, Chai offers an open‑source alternative to existing tools. Its source code is publicly available under the GPLv3 license, providing transparency and the ability for community contributions.
The program is distributed via a Homebrew tap, as it no longer passes Gatekeeper verification and will be removed from the official Homebrew Casks after September 2026. Icons are sourced from Glyphish and are restricted to use within the project.
