Equinox

Equinox is a macOS utility that lets users generate native dynamic wallpapers directly on their computers. It supports the three wallpaper formats introduced in macOS Mojave: Solar, Time, and Appearance, allowing images to change according to the sun’s position, a custom daily schedule, or the system’s Light/Dark mode. Users create wallpapers by dragging and dropping photos, selecting the desired type, and exporting the result for immediate use.

The Solar wallpaper mode incorporates a built‑in solar calculator that determines the sun’s altitude based on location, date, and time, simplifying the process of matching images to seasonal lighting. Time wallpapers follow a user‑defined timeline, while Appearance wallpapers require only two images—one for Light Mode and one for Dark Mode—to switch automatically with the system theme.

Equinox is open source and offered as free software, with stable releases available through the Mac App Store, GitHub, and the project website. It provides a straightforward workflow for creating personalized, time‑aware desktop backgrounds without needing external tools.
