Freeter
Organize apps, links, and files by project in one workspace.
Freeter provides a single workspace where users can group applications, web pages, files, and other resources by project. By selecting a project from a drop‑down menu, the interface shows only the widgets and links associated with that project, helping users keep unrelated items out of view and maintain focus.
The application offers a variety of widgets that can be placed on a workflow screen, including webpage embeds, file openers, web‑query shortcuts, to‑do lists, command‑line shortcuts, timers, and note pads. Workflows can be split into multiple tabs for sub‑projects or distinct activities, and a persistent “Shelf” area holds items that should remain accessible across all projects. A theme switch toggles between light and dark modes.
Freeter is released under the GNU GPL, is open source, and does not collect telemetry or usage data. It runs on Linux, Windows, and macOS, and is positioned as a free‑tier utility for users who want to organize their digital work environment by project.
