Gray
Per-app light/dark mode switcher. ![Freeware][Freeware Icon]
Gray lets macOS users control the appearance of individual applications, choosing light or dark mode for each app independently while the system-wide setting remains unchanged. The utility writes a configuration entry for the target app that forces the Aqua (light) appearance, and the change takes effect after the app is restarted. Because it only modifies per‑application preferences, it does not alter the overall system appearance.
The tool is built with Swift 4.2 and runs on macOS 10.14 and later. It offers a simple button‑click interface for toggling an app’s mode, and the underlying mechanism can be reproduced with a single `defaults write` command in the terminal. Users who prefer not to keep the app can delete it after configuring the desired settings.
Gray is open‑source, released under the MIT license, and maintained as a stable, free‑tier utility. Source code and release binaries are available on GitHub, and the project can be built locally with Xcode and CocoaPods.
