HackMD

HackMD Desktop provides a native client for the HackMD online markdown editor, packaged with Electron to run on macOS. It loads the web‑based interface, allowing users to create, edit, and view markdown notes without opening a browser. The application mirrors the functionality of the online service, supporting real‑time collaboration and the same editor features.

The client is aimed at users who prefer a desktop environment for note‑taking and collaborative writing, such as developers, writers, and teams that already use HackMD online. It can connect to the default HackMD site or to a locally hosted instance running on port 3000, making it suitable for both cloud and self‑hosted workflows.

Installation is performed via standard npm/Yarn commands, and the source includes a development mode that launches the Electron wrapper with the chosen endpoint. The project is marked as stable and is built on the Electron framework.
