Homarr provides a web‑based dashboard that centralises access to a server’s applications and services. Users can arrange widgets through a drag‑and‑drop interface, eliminating the need for YAML or JSON configuration files, and the dashboard displays status information and controls for integrated apps. A large collection of icons from multiple repositories supplies visual cues, while built‑in authentication and authorization support credentials, OIDC, and LDAP for managing user permissions.

The platform includes seamless integrations with many popular tools, testing connectivity automatically and scaling via a background job system that can handle hundreds of users. Customisation is extensive, with detailed settings for layout, appearance, and language; the community contributes translations for 26 languages and adds new integrations regularly.
