Ipe
Drawing editor for creating figures in PDF format
Ipe is a vector drawing editor that produces figures directly in PDF format. It is designed for creating both small graphics to be embedded in LaTeX documents and multi‑page PDF presentations. Text can be entered as LaTeX source, allowing mathematical expressions and document macros to be rendered automatically when the file is saved, and the resulting PDF contains the text without external dependencies.
The editor offers geometric alignment tools such as snapping modes that make it easy to position objects precisely, for example placing a point at the intersection of two lines or drawing a circle through three points. Its extensibility is provided through ipelets, plug‑ins written in Lua, which let users add custom functionality for specific tasks.
Ipe runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux, and is distributed as binary packages for each platform as well as a source archive. The current stable release is 7.2.29, and the software is written in standard C++ and Lua 5.4.
