MakeItHome adds a pointer‑driven launcher to macOS that activates when the cursor reaches a screen edge, providing quick access to actions, app switching, web search, notes, tasks, and a calendar. The interface includes a Widgets Zone in the top bar where users can pin widgets, and it supports locking applications for fast retrieval.

The tool relies on screen‑recording permissions to capture the desktop view, but the captured images are not stored or transmitted. It also integrates an App Extension mechanism that lets an application extend its icon in the window‑switching area, displaying a preview and, when the edge is further dragged, opening a WebView for custom content such as a music queue or browser tabs.

Developers can use the provided API and communication protocol to create extensions, and a demo repository is available for reference. The current stable release (1.9.6) focuses on completing the 2.0 objectives while fixing bugs.
