Nota
Markdown files editor
A macOS‑only editor built around local Markdown files, offering a clean writing surface that stays invisible until needed. It supports multiple simultaneous selections, expandable selection of surrounding elements, and context‑aware completions that appear as visual hints. Quick dialogs with fuzzy matching let users open files, search, or invoke commands with minimal keystrokes.
The app embraces plain‑text fidelity: files are never reformatted on open, and copy‑paste preserves the original markup. It implements the double‑bracket wiki‑link syntax, automatically updating links when a target file is renamed, and provides backlinks and shortcuts for navigating connections, facilitating personal wikis, Zettelkasten‑style note networks, or second‑brain setups.
Nota stores notes as ordinary Markdown files, ensuring full data ownership and compatibility with any other editor or cloud service. Extensibility is provided through user‑written scripts and custom commands, with hooks for events like paste or save, and optional highlighters and completions that can be added later.
