PlayCover

PlayCover enables iOS applications and games to run natively on Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 12.0 or newer by wrapping each app in an iPad‑like environment. The wrapper allows the software to execute directly on the M‑series processors, providing performance comparable to running on an iPad. Users can assign custom touch controls to keyboard, mouse, or gamepad, supporting typical gaming inputs such as WASD movement, camera control, and individual key mapping.

The project targets gamers and developers who want to play iOS titles—originally Genshin Impact and now a broader set—on their Mac without needing an iOS device. It is open‑source, released under GPL‑v3, and offers stable releases as well as a Homebrew Cask for easy installation. Documentation and community support are provided through a website, Discord, and Weblate localization.

PlayCover works only on Apple Silicon hardware; Intel Macs are not supported. The codebase incorporates several open‑source libraries for injection, fake touch handling, downloading, caching, and SwiftUI image loading, and it can be built from source or installed via the pre‑built cask.
