ConsoleMini

Controller-first big-picture launcher that turns a Mac mini into a PS1-PS4 + retro console (wraps DuckStation, PCSX2, RPCS3, shadPS4, PPSSPP, RetroArch, mGBA, Flycast).

Source

ConsoleMini provides a controller‑first, big‑picture interface for macOS that turns a Mac mini into a living‑room gaming console. It presents a TV‑friendly UI built with Electron, React, Tailwind, and Framer Motion, allowing users to plug a gamepad, select a system, and launch games without keyboard interaction. The launcher wraps a collection of established macOS emulators, handling installation and status monitoring through a settings tab that runs a one‑click script.

Supported platforms include PlayStation 1 through PlayStation 4 (DuckStation, PCSX2, RPCS3, shadPS4), PSP (PPSSPP), Nintendo 64 (Mupen64Plus), SNES/NES via RetroArch cores, Game Boy Advance (mGBA), and Dreamcast (Flycast). Each emulator is installed via Homebrew casks or scripts, and the app runs natively on Apple Silicon with signed, notarized binaries. A kiosk mode can configure the Mac mini to boot directly into the launcher for a seamless console experience.

The project is open‑source under the MIT license, released as a stable, free‑tier application. It targets users who want a simple, controller‑centric way to play a range of retro and modern PlayStation titles on a Mac mini connected to a TV.
