Yubico Authenticator

The application serves as a desktop and Android companion for YubiKey hardware, allowing users to view device details such as serial number, firmware version, and supported capabilities. It provides management of OATH one‑time passwords stored on the YubiKey, and lets users configure PINs, fingerprints, and passkeys for WebAuthn/FIDO, as well as handle PIV private keys, certificates, and Yubico OTP or static password slots.

It supports any USB or NFC‑enabled YubiKey, enabling credential storage on a hardware‑backed security key that can be used across mobile and desktop environments without relying on network connectivity. Features include enabling or disabling specific YubiKey functions, performing factory resets, and managing slot‑based credentials directly from the app.

The software runs on macOS (13 Ventura and later, 10.15 Catalina and later), Windows 10 and newer, Ubuntu 20.04/22.04 and later, and Android 7 through 13. Linux users must have pcscd running and appropriate HID permissions; clipboard handling on Wayland may require a custom binary. A separate command‑line tool is available for advanced management.
