Awal Terminal

Awal Terminal is a native macOS terminal emulator built with Swift and Rust, aimed at developers who interact with AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Gemini CLI, and Codex CLI. It provides a high‑performance rendering pipeline using Metal, delivering smooth scrolling and a large back‑buffer while supporting typical terminal features like tabs, windows, and a Quake‑style dropdown.

The emulator includes AI‑specific tools: selectable LLM profiles for different models, a side panel that shows token usage, costs, context windows, file references, and git changes, and smart folding of AI‑generated code blocks, diffs, and tool calls. Voice input is handled on‑device, and a screenshot‑to‑session shortcut lets users capture screen regions and feed the resulting file path to an AI agent.

Awal Terminal also auto‑detects project stacks and injects relevant AI components from shared registries, offering visual mapping, security scanning, and hook approval. Additional conveniences include plan‑aware tab naming, desktop notifications for long‑running AI tasks, syntax highlighting, and integrated git status in the interface.
