Electorrent

Desktop remote torrenting application

Source

Electorrent provides a desktop interface for remotely managing torrent clients on other machines such as NAS devices, VPSes, or seedboxes. It connects to a range of BitTorrent applications—including µTorrent, qBittorrent, Transmission, rTorrent, Synology Download Station, and Deluge—allowing users to add and control torrents without using a web UI. The application runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux, and is built with Electron, AngularJS, and SemanticUI.

Users can add torrents by pasting magnet links from the clipboard, uploading local torrent files, or dragging and dropping them onto the window. The client supports fuzzy search of existing torrents, native desktop notifications, and quick switching between multiple server configurations. It also includes a built‑in trust system for self‑signed certificates and automatic updates pulled from the GitHub repository.

The design aims to streamline the workflow of people who regularly interact with remote torrent services, eliminating the need to copy‑paste links or navigate separate web interfaces. Installation is handled via a one‑click installer, and the software is released under a stable maturity level.
