Hubzilla

Decentralized identity, privacy, publishing, sharing, cloud storage, and communications/social platform.

Hubzilla provides a self‑hosted, open‑source platform that combines social networking, publishing, and cloud storage under a unified framework. It implements a decentralized identity system that can be transferred between servers, enabling users to back up or clone their online presence. Communication is handled through federated protocols such as ActivityPub and Diaspora, allowing interaction with other Fediverse services.

The software supports private and public groups, forums, and conversation containers that load entire discussions and offer moderation tools. Users can share files, blog posts, web pages, and wikis with fine‑grained access control, choosing public, private, or restricted visibility. Built‑in single sign‑on lets a single account authenticate across participating sites.

Privacy and safety features let individuals filter content, block users, and enforce permissions on all shared objects. The platform is extensible through custom themes and modules, and it runs on standard web server technology without subscription fees, distributed under the MIT license.
