HumHub

HumHub provides a modular platform for building private social networks, intranets, and knowledge bases. Users have customizable profiles and can follow, comment, and interact within the system, while administrators control permissions, profile fields, and notifications. The core structure revolves around four pillars—User, Spaces, Content, and Modules—allowing creation of rooms or groups (Spaces) for projects, departments, or events, and supporting diverse content types such as posts, wiki pages, media, calendars, and tasks.

The software is written in PHP, is self‑hostable, and released under the AGPL‑3.0 license. It includes an advanced permission and notification system, full‑text search, file management, and responsive design for smartphones and tablets. Over 80 optional modules extend functionality with features like LDAP integration, RESTful API, OnlyOffice, JWT SSO, polls, and direct messaging.

HumHub is used by a wide range of organizations—including companies, municipalities, NGOs, clubs, political parties, schools, and universities—across more than 30 languages and over 4,500 deployments worldwide. It is GDPR‑compliant and can be run on‑premise or via a SaaS offering.
