Socialhome provides a federated personal profile platform that also functions as a social networking engine. Users can create and publish rich content using Markdown, and trusted users may include HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. All posts can be pinned to the user’s profile and are automatically distributed to contacts across the federated web.

The system interoperates with other networks through ActivityPub and Diaspora protocols, allowing content to flow between compatible services. It is built as a Django‑based backend, with a separate frontend repository, and can be deployed on self‑hosted infrastructure. The project is released under the AGPL‑3.0 license, offering a free‑tier, subscription‑free experience, and supports community translations.
