Petrichor

Offline music player with broad format support, lyrics, playlists, and queue management.

Source

Petrichor is an offline music player for macOS that lets users organize and play audio files stored locally. It can scan music folders, present the library in a structured view, and supports a wide range of formats including MP3, AAC, WAV, AIFF, FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, Opus, APE, Musepack, True Audio, WavPack, Direct Stream Digital, and several tracker formats such as MOD and XM. The app displays embedded lyrics when available and can download missing ones, while also offering playlist creation, import/export, and interactive queue management through drag‑and‑drop.

The interface integrates with native macOS features like menubar and dock controls, dark mode, and right‑click navigation to album, artist, or year pages. Users can pin favorite items to a sidebar for quick access, and the player includes Last.fm scrobbling. It is designed to handle large collections with thousands of tracks and relies on accurate metadata for full functionality.

Installation is available via a downloadable DMG from GitHub or through Homebrew cask. The software is sandboxed, notarized, and requires macOS 14 or later. It is open‑source and distributed under a free tier license.
