Pika
An open-source color picker app.
Pika is a native macOS colour‑picker utility that lets users sample any colour on screen and instantly copy it in one of seven formats, including Hex, RGB, HSB, HSL, LAB, OpenGL and OKLCH. The app runs from the menu bar, dock or Touch Bar and can be launched with a global hotkey, keeping it unobtrusive yet always reachable. It records a history of selected colours, allowing users to revisit, undo or redo previous picks.
Designed with accessibility in mind, Pika can compare two colours and display WCAG and APCA compliance metrics such as contrast ratio and lightness contrast, helping designers ensure their palettes meet accessibility standards. The app also supports a custom URL scheme (pika://) for automation from other applications or scripts.
Pika is open‑source, lightweight (5.48 MB), and requires macOS 14 or newer. It is distributed via the App Store and Homebrew, and its stable v1.6.0 release includes language support for English, Chinese, Croatian, French, German, Polish and Spanish.
