Sonixd

Desktop client for Subsonic-API and Jellyfin music servers

Source

Sonixd is a cross‑platform desktop client that connects to music servers exposing the Subsonic API, including Jellyfin since version 0.8.0. It provides HTML5 audio playback with optional crossfading, gapless listening, and global media‑key support, allowing users to drag and drop rows, edit playlists, and manage large queues directly from the interface. The client is built with Electron and React, using the rsuite component library, and offers multi‑theme support and partial MPRIS integration.

The software targets listeners who maintain personal or shared music libraries on servers such as Navidrome, Airsonic, Gonic, Astiga, or Jellyfin, and who want a desktop application for browsing, searching, and controlling playback. Its features address scalability, library management, and user experience concerns identified in existing clients.

Sonixd is distributed as binary releases for Windows, macOS, and Linux (including AUR packages) and can also be installed via package managers like winget, scoop, and Homebrew. As of version 0.15.4 it is in maintenance mode, receiving only critical bug fixes while a full rewrite proceeds under the name Feishin.
